A Tale of Two Transformations

The video is a recording of a live session that I gave with my colleagues in London on October 10^th at the Pure Storage Accelerate event.  We ran live polling at the time, and the poll is still open if you wanted to join in, although some of the answers are out of context while watching a recoding 😉.

Trying to plan your enterprise storage consumption for the next 5 years isn’t just hard, its practically impossible.

How can you plan for unforeseen events? You can’t, you can only really build contingency into your models, and even then, you are probably going to get kicked back by the CFO for taking a risk on eventualities that may never happen.  So what can you do?

…and the moral of this story?

Well, there isn’t really a moral here, every business is different, there’s no hero or villain, right nor wrong.  But what we hope to have illustrated here, is that despite all the best planning, the best people and the right maths and risk posture, you just can’t predict external influences on your business that are…… unpredictable.
