Outside of work, I’ll admit I’m a bit of a techie geek……

yep – that’s “our” first computer. I say “our” because in those days if a home was lucky enough to have a computer, that computer was shared with the whole family! It’s a Sharp MZ-80K and my father proudly bought that around 1980. He was betting on computing being the future – and boy am I glad he did, as I have enjoyed every minute of growing up and working with technology.

Ironically though, while studying Computer Science in the mid 90’s at Nottingham Trent University, I was surely convinced that “This Internet thing will never take off”… In my defence – that was more around the telecommunications challenges, as the scientists thought that V.92 56K modems were as fast as it was possible to go 😲, and downloading anything from Compuserve involved impatiently watching images appear line by line on the screen over a few minutes or more !!

Fast Forward to the naughties, and I’ve spent most of my career in infrastructure, solving customer challenges in multi-million (and the odd $1Bn+) Enterprise Architecture and Managed Services deal.

I have a couple of great (adult) kids, both of whom love using their computers, but couldn’t care less how they work.. Love travelling with my girlfriend and experiencing different cultures across the Globe, and of course besotted with my Cavapoo Tilly
